About Us

More than 79 years ago, we began navigating the Paraná Delta with a clear mission: to connect people, destinations, and stories through the water.

What started as a company dedicated to passenger river transportation has grown alongside the river, its communities, and every person who has chosen to travel with us. Over the years, Sturla Viajes has expanded its operations, introduced new services, professionalized its processes, and established itself as a pioneer in tourism and passenger transportation across the Paraná Delta, the Río de la Plata, and Martín García Island.

Our history has been defined by constant evolution. Alongside the values that have guided us from the very beginning—commitment, responsibility, service excellence, and a deep passion for the river—we have embraced technology, innovation, and continuous training. We have incorporated advanced operational and administrative systems, satellite navigation technology aboard our vessels, and monitoring tools that allow us to track the location, speed, and route of each vessel in real time, strengthening safety, coordination, and the quality of service we provide to our passengers.

We also believe that a company's growth is built by the people who make it possible. That is why the continuous training of our team is one of our highest priorities. Our onboard crew receives specialized training through courses provided by the Argentine Naval Prefecture, while our shore-based staff participates in ongoing programs focused on delivering increasingly attentive, efficient, and professional customer service.

Throughout the years, we have continued to broaden our horizons. We have developed domestic and international tourism experiences available year-round, participated in major tourism trade fairs in Argentina as well as markets across Latin America and Europe, and designed services for individual travelers, groups, companies, educational institutions, and special events. Our island excursions, Río de la Plata cruises, evening navigation experiences, and comprehensive event services all share the same purpose: creating memorable, safe, and authentic experiences.

We have also developed a strong educational tourism program, offering students of all ages the opportunity to discover the Paraná Delta, the natural and cultural heritage of our rivers, and the history of the communities that live alongside them. We believe that navigating the waterways is also a way of learning—awakening curiosity and creating lasting memories.

To provide increasingly comprehensive services, we work in partnership with leading recreational, gastronomic, and tourism providers in each destination. These long-standing relationships, built on trust, transparency, and mutual commitment, allow us to offer carefully designed, integrated experiences for every type of traveler. The synergy between our team and our strategic partners results in unique, personalized, high-quality experiences, where every detail is designed to exceed our passengers' expectations.

In 2008, we took a major step forward with the launch of "Proa Urbana," a service that connected the city of Tigre with the City of Buenos Aires in just one hour by water for the first time. Over the years, this route expanded to include additional ports such as San Fernando, San Isidro, and Olivos, reinforcing our vision of modern, efficient, and sustainable water transportation.

In 2023, we reached another important milestone with the inauguration of the first tourist pier in La Boca, just a short walk from Caminito. Since then, we have connected Puerto Madero and La Boca by water, offering a unique perspective of two of Buenos Aires' most iconic neighborhoods from the river. This project reflects our belief that waterways connect not only destinations, but also culture, identity, and the future.

Today, we operate a versatile fleet of vessels designed to serve a wide range of travel experiences, with strategically located boarding points in Puerto Madero, Dársena Norte, and La Boca. Every departure point represents a new opportunity to bring more people closer to the experience of navigating our waterways.
